Race 1 Södertälje 2019

Race #1  2019 

First round this year was in södertälje - south of Stockholm

It was typical May weather, some patchy rain and some lovely sunny moments too..

This circuit is run by the local karting and mc club, the home track to many of the minimoto and mingp riders who compete in the series - Probably at this time it is the second biggest club when it comes to racing in our classes - I think vasterås our own club has a few more active riders. 

The bikes 

We had spent the spring making lewis´s bike ready for the junior B class, then we sprayed both bikes up in matching castrol racing colours (after selling my old welder to a guy on blocket who happened to work for castrol in sweden, he kindly sent us a bag of merchandise and stickers for the bikes)

We packed both bikes and all the gear in the renault double cab van nick named by us as the "donkey" for the whole weekend, last minute modifications were made ato create an area to sleep on over the bikes and tool - all three of us slept in the van at race weekends during this year.

The weekend
Steve (pappa) had much to do this weekend ...
Travis´s bike blew up during the saturday morning practice sessions, the piston wrist pin broke and ended up scoring the barrel and wrecking the piston, it had slid down the side. Luckily rydergren had a spare so we replaced with a new piston and gave the bore a little scuff, put it all back together for it to blow up almost immediately when fired up - doh !
I think I had left a piece inside ...
Anyway after a lot of messing around the engine was rebuilt with the old barrel and another new piston and we were back in business again.

The results 

Travis was flying - fastest in all sessions - about a second quicker then the next per lap
Resulting in a win for travis in the first and lewis taking 5th place 
The second race of the weekend was also great for the boys - Travis getting another first place and trophy and kicking off the season with a full 50 points
